Never A Day Of Summer Shine
Home

(fourth draft)

Never a Day of Summer Shine

Never a day of summer shine
shone its radiance upon heart.
All I have is this midnight murk,
floating like a shadowy reflection
around this illusionary flesh;
concealing my innermost sanctum.

Where is the mystic breath of light
that cleanses my soiled vision?
The open eyes within me
are sealed by a twine of taint,
like tingling veils of twilight.

Glimpses of the clear stream,
have given me gems of joy
to place within my hollow heart;
yet I seek not the drop,
but an ocean of love.

My sleeping seed of innocence,
trickling in graceful glow
through channels of serenity,
was guided by a ghostly grasp
to the throne of burning darkness;
in this place of shadow and dust,
I call to you:
O goddess of infinite compassion and joy
to give you my heart to heal.

Allow me to breathe your breath;
the fragrance of lotus
swelling inside my spirit,
manifesting the absolute devotion
of an endlessly amorous heart.

Only until I am the lull of your dream,
spreading my wings of benevolence;
will I feel your motherly warmth
permeate my days with elated ease.

(second draft)

Never a Day of Summer Shine

Never a day of summer shine

Shone its radiance upon my eclipsed heart.

All I have is this immortal murk,

Floating like a shadowy reflection

Around this illusionary flesh;

Concealing my innermost sanctum.

Where is the mystic breath of light

That cleanses my soiled vision?

The open eyes within me

Are sealed by a twine of taint,

Like tingling veils of twilight.

Glimpses of the clear stream,

Have given me gems of joy

To place within my hollow heart;

Yet I seek not the drop,

But an ocean of love.

My sleeping seed of innocence,

Trickling in graceful glow

Through channels of serenity,

Was guided by a ghostly grasp

To the heart of burning darkness;

In this place of shadow and dust,

I call to you

O Goddess of infinite compassion and joy

To give you my heart to heal.

Allow me to breathe your breath,

Like the fragrance of a lotus

Swelling inside my spirit;

Manifesting the absolute devotion

Of an endlessly amorous heart.

Only until I am the lull of your dream,

Spreading my noble wings of benevolence;

Will I feel your tender motherly warmth

Fill my days with triumphant saintly bliss.
